Volunteers from the American Dental Association Foundation visited 21 Chicago public schools during March and April 2009. ADA employees visited pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first-grade classrooms and read the pop-up book Ready, Set, Brush!, which features Elmo, Cookie Monster and other Sesame Street characters and teaches proper oral care. Schools visited included Ashburn, Cook, Cuffe, Curtis, Dunne, Esmond, Ft. Dearborn, Foster Park,  Garvey, Jackson, Vanderpoel, Bennett, Evers, Fernwood, Green, Hughes, Keller, Kellogg, Kohn, Morgan, and Shedd.

The ADA Foundation donated enough copies of Ready, Set, Brush! to provide each student in the classes visited with a copy of the book to take home, as well as one copy for each elementary school in the district to add to its library. In total, 2,500 books, as well as numerous toothbrushes and boxes of floss, were distributed to CPS schools.
