The Chicago Public Schools began the practice of naming schools for individuals in 1858. In 2000, the Partnerships office set about finding a living relative for all of the honorees commemorated by the names of our schools.
To date, we have identified one hundred and seventy-five individuals who are related to one hundred of the distinguished citizens for whom our schools are named. You can also help us find additional relatives of these namesakes.
