The Department of Education has announced $60 million in available funding for one-year planning and multi-year implementation grants under the Promise Neighborhoods FY2012 Grant Competition. Official application materials, award information, FAQ’s, eligibility requirements, and news on upcoming informational webinars can be found on the Promise Neighborhoods’ website.  Applications are due to the Department of Education on July 27, 2012.

Eligible applicants (non-profit organizations or institutions of higher education) intending to work with one or multiple CPS schools must submit a pre-application to the district in order to receive CPS support on the required memorandum of understanding.

Prospective Planning and Implementation applicants should complete the CPS Promise Neighborhoods Partner Proposal and submit to Beatriz Jimenez (bajimenez@cps.k12.il.us) by 4:00 PM on July 2, 2012.  Late applications will not be considered.

Pre-applications received by the deadline will be reviewed by a committee for content, organizational capacity, and alignment to district priorities. Selected applicants will be notified no later than July 10, 2012.

Note: Principals, teachers, and CAO’s are not permitted to endorse Promise Neighborhood applications on behalf of the district on their own; only applications selected through this process will receive district support.

CPS Partner Proposals

CPS Promise Neighborhoods Partner Proposal

Applicants interested in partnering with the Chicago Public Schools for an i3 grant must submit a CPS Partner Proposal.  These proposals will be reviewed by committee and competitively selected for partnership based on project merit and alignment with district priorities.  Projects not approved by this process cannot claim CPS as a partner for their i3 application.

Development Applicants

Prospective Development applicants should complete the CPS I3 Development Proposal and submit to Beatriz Jimenez after they have received a formal invitation to submit a full application by the Department of Education. No materials are due to CPS until after the Department of Education has notified Pre-Applicants they are eligible to compete in the full Development grant competition.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY FEBRUARY3^rd, 2012.

The program honors African American males in the Chicagoland community that meet certain criteria for their school GPA, community service and essay writing abilities.  25 applications will be selected and honored as our 2012 SPRITE MVP’s.  Honorees will be rewarded with a luncheon hosted by the Chicago Bulls and Sprite along with other fun prizes.
