PepsiCo Rewards Student Ingenuity
In celebration of Black History Month, on Feb. 26th and 27th PepsiCo Chicago awarded the winners of two contests for CPS students: one inviting them to write an essay advising President Obama on education, the environment or the economy, and another challenging them to develop and present a new product or marketing tool.
For the Ninth Annual Black History Month Essay Contest, PepsiCo Chicago awarded three first-place prizes, one in each grade from 6th through 8th, and three second-place prizes, also selected by grade. The winning students came from Jenner Elementary, Libby Elementary and Pershing West Middle School. Students read their essays at an awards ceremony held Feb. 26 at PepsiCo Chicago, 555 West Monroe St.
PepsiCo Chicago also invited several teams of 2-4 CPS high school students to submit proposals for a new product and/or marketing concept in the area of Foods, Beverages or Snacks. The first and second place teams came from Brooks College Prep HS and the third and fourth place teams came from Whitney Young Magnet HS. On Feb. 27, the teams of students presented their proposals to PepsiCo Chicago senior leadership and members of the African-American Network.
PepsiCo Chicago has ongoing partnerships with Jenner Elementary and Libby Elementary and supports projects at other schools throughout the school year.
