Sponsor a Visit from the StoryBus
Are you looking for a way to support a partner school or an opportunity for your students? The following is information from StoryBus, an organization that works with Chicago Schools.
Treat your youngest students to something special! The StoryBus can help preschool and kindergarten children of Chicago develop a love of literacy and reading!
A 37-foot children’s museum-on-wheels, the StoryBus travels to Chicago-area schools to bring the settings of classic children’s fairytales to life with hands-on, interactive exhibits. Before it arrives, the teachers are trained in a curriculum that ties to the StoryBus exhibits and aligns with the Illinois Early Learning Standards. The program also includes book donations for classrooms libraries, and a Partnering with Parents program that teaches families what they can do to extend the lessons of the StoryBus into their homes. With the StoryBus, reading becomes an every-day passion that can
build a solid platform for future success.
With your contribution of $700, the StoryBus can pay a visit to the school of your choice. For that price, up to five Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers at your school will receive:
- A Little Red Hen curriculum guide
- Nine hours of professional development from the Erikson Institute
- Five different Little Red Hen storybooks
- A StoryBus DVD featuring a storytelling of the Little Red Hen
- A school visit from the StoryBus storyteller
- A school visit from the StoryBus, featuring the Little Red Hen exhibit
