U.S. Cellular Gives $250K to IL Teachers
U.S. Cellular funded over 450 classroom projects nationwide as part of its 2009 Calling All Teachers campaign. The company worked with DonorsChoose.org around Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8 to donate $1.1 million to meet classroom needs.
Over $250,000 of the funds went to teachers in Illinois, many of whom hosted U.S. Cellular employee visitors in their classrooms.
“Chicago Public Schools appreciates the support U.S. Cellular has provided to our schools and teachers through the DonorsChoose.org partnership,” said Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins, Chief Education Officer of the Chicago Public Schools. “The recognition and reward offered to these extraordinary teachers further supports their daily efforts to bring added resources to their classroom learning environments.”
U.S. Cellular also made a recent donation of 10,000 vouchers for free tickets to April or May White Sox games. The vouchers were disctributed for use by CPS students.
